Today is the Day

01 Mar

Today is the day to tell someone you love them.

I’ve been wondering what I would post on the blog after the week we’ve been through. Everything related to daily life–cooking, eating, serving drinks, reading and writing blogs seems so insignificant in comparison to losing a parent. As many of you may already know, my father passed away unexpectedly last week in the hospital, and we were there by his side telling him we loved him. We celebrated his life with family and friends last Thursday at his funeral in Stillwater.

Through our pain and sorrow we have been deeply comforted by all of the prayers from people who care about us, and we are grateful to be surrounded by those who love us during this time. Life has and will carry on, although what was once “normal” will now be a “new normal” as someone told me yesterday.

What we do know in both our old and new normal is that God is good all the time. He loves us and wants us to love like He does. The bible says in Matthew 5:4 “Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted.” We have felt His tender love and comfort this past week, and we know that will not change because God is love.

Today is the day to tell someone you love them.
